nfwl annual conference
With so many women in politics, it seemed like a no-brainer when HHN was asked to attend the National Foundation for Women Legislators’ annual conference. We met hundreds of people with political influence, and after the recent elections, there’s a new wave of lawmakers looking to target issues that are important to voters as they head into office.
With a captive audience, HHN co-founder Allan Spiegel, MD presented information on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other common injuries that our troops are coming home with. Along with highlighting the “Hidden Injuries of War”, the presentation also focused on medical advancements, like Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), that are helping our Heroes return to productive, healthy lives. HHN stressed that with stronger support from the political arena, our nation’s injured veterans could have more opportunities to heal when they come home. Dr. Spiegel showed the progress many of HHN’s Heroes have made by highlighting their initial injuries, and the effective treatment they received from HHN, that wasn't covered by military insurance.
Through workshops and one-on-one conversations, we tried to stress the importance of action by spotlighting the Heroes we’ve already helped. We also spread the word that we’re here to help even more Heroes in each legislator’s local district. That’s surely an issue many voters will appreciate!
